JANINE PERENE

Janine has recently moved from the practice space into the prevention-design space in her capacity as Whiria Te Muka’s first Kaiauaha. She came to the role of Kaipūpuri within Whiria Te Muka in 2017, following a 20-year career as a qualified educator in Early Childhood Education. In that role, she has seen the Te Whāriki Early Childhood Education curriculum roll out across Āotearoa as the first bi-cultural document of its kind in mainstream education. Janine also holds a Bachelors Degree in Mātauranga that adds immense value to her role on the iwi team of the Whiria Te Muka partnership. Janine is married and shares seven children between herself and her husband.
